Last week, we stopped by the Waldo Farmer's Market on gray afternoon where rain was threatening to pour in buckets out of the sky. In other words, a typical day for Kansas City in the spring, unpredictable.
A small radio at the center of the market squeaked music out to shoppers and two red metal folding chairs provided a quick seat for snow cones. Food truck generators hummed loudly as market shoppers arrived by car, bike and on foot. All the produce was lovely, but the fresh strawberries were just amazing. You could smell them as soon as you walked into the booth and the smell of fresh berries is just heaven. Local businesses Farm to Market Bread and One More Cup coffee shop stood alongside farmers at the market offering bread and coffee samples (yay and yay!).
